Community, Culture, and Belonging Survey and Listening Sessions for the Town of Wayland

Wayland has hired a consultant to conduct an equity assessment to learn how we are doing as a community in making people who live and work here feel welcome.  To better understand how people feel, the consultants are asking residents to participate in a survey.  The hope to get as many as 2,000 responses—an ambitious goal!  The survey link is below.  Please take a few minutes to answer the survey questions and forward the link to your Wayland neighbors and friends and ask them to respond as well.

COMMUNITY SURVEY

The Town of Wayland has launched a Community, Culture, and Belonging Survey. The goal is to understand the experiences of community members including those who live, work, worship and/or have children who learn within the Wayland Community.

The Center for Strategic Diversity Leadership and Social Innovation is the external research team leading this project. Everything gathered in this survey is anonymous.

• Anyone 18 or older who lives, works, learns and worships, and/or has children who learn in Wayland is encouraged to take the survey.

• The survey takes 5 to 10 minutes and will remain available until October 31, 2024.

• You only need to complete this survey once.

To participate in the survey, please click this link: https://daw.checkboxonline.com/wayland

If you have any questions, would like assistance or need an accommodation to complete the survey, please contact execasst@wayland.ma.us or call 508-358-3621.  https://www.wayland.ma.us/sites/g/files/vyhlif9231/f/news/tow_community_culture_and_belonging_survey.pdf

Community, Culture, and Belonging Survey Upcoming Listening Sessions

In addition to the survey, The Center for Strategic Diversity Leadership and Social Innovation team will be leading listening sessions for community members to share your experiences in the Town of Wayland.

  • Who: Anyone 18 or older who lives, works, learns or worships in Wayland, or has children in Wayland schools is encouraged to participate in one of these upcoming listening sessions. You only need to participate in one session.
  • Time: Each session is 60 minutes.

Watch Governor’s Council (District 3) Forum Online!

NewTV (Newton TV) and the League of Women Voters of the Acton area, Arlington, Bedford, Belmont, Boston-Cambridge, Brookline, Concord-Carlisle, Harvard, Lexington, Newton, Sudbury, Waltham, Wayland, Wellesley, and Weston co-sponsored a forum with the candidates for the Governor’s Council 3rd District.  This candidates forum was recorded by NewTV and is available here: Ward 3 Governor’s Council Forum.

The LWV solicited questions from residents about the issues and questions they believed were important to ask the candidates.  Questions were appropriate for all candidates for the specific office and were concise in their one to two sentence length.  While the moderator was not able to ask every question as written, she did try to cover all the topics recommended by the public in the time allocated for the forum.

This forum was a collaboration between NewTV and all the local Leagues of Women Voters of the Governor’s Council 3rd District .  For more information, please email GCd3questions@gmail.com

Wayland Elections Help Needed

The Town of Wayland is looking for help during this busy election year. With the increasing number of ballots due to vote by mail, the process to account for these ballots can sometimes be overwhelming. For the primary election, there are morning, afternoon, and evening shifts and a variety of positions (ballot box, checkers, greeter-types). There are also early voting slots. Training sessions will be held before the elections. Volunteers are paid for both the training and work at the polls.

The presidential primary is March 5th, so if you are interested, please reach out to the Town Clerk’s office at townclerk@wayland.ma.us

The experience of working at the polls is very rewarding and re-enforces one’s belief in our election system!
